Pictures are crap as the sun was way too bloody bright, and 30 Celsius, why? Why so bright and so hot. Even the wind in the shade was over 20 Celsius.

Any way, had a taxi to clean. Full clean and decon on the exterior and bio clean and Bio Cote the interior.

Not totally sure on the year as it’s a Northern Ireland registered car and while now resides on the mainland it doesn’t have an age identifier that I’m knowledgeable of.

30 Celsius is not hot, merely warm

Nah. 30 degrees is too much. Especially if it gets over 30, like 35. I’d melt.

Depends on what you’re used to I guess.

That’s true

A few days of mid 40’s and I’m buggered

30+ is way too hot here, along with the humidity.

It's like when many Aussies come to the U.K. they say how cold it is, while we're wearing shorts and t-shirts.

You can’t really do much.

Washing the car was okay as it was white (which did burn my eyes a lot so I had to keep stepping away to let my eyes readjust) but if it was any other colour than white or silver I’d of been screwed, a dark coloured car would of been a no-no.

Anything above 20c here starts limiting what you can do.

We don’t have A/C here as it’s costly, we’d get two months use a year out of it and the maintenance costs of using it and then not using it for long periods, doesn’t make any viable sense.

And I've noticed a lot of new residential construction still uses radiators for heating, presumably because you have too many nights where it drops down too cold for a heat pump to work efficiently, which certainly makes adding air conditioning much costlier. With forced hot air, adding air conditioning along with it is basically a "might as well while you're at it" sort of thing.

With radiator central heating you can combine it with your hot water production on a combi boiler.

The combi boiler will kick in to heat the water for baths, showers, washing the dishes, etc... when the tap is turned on, the water flow kicks the boiler into action and heat the water, but the boiler will heat the water in the pipes for the radiators (separate system) when the temperature that’s set on a thermostat require it.

So it’s a system that gets used every hour of the day.

30 celsius is like our 8:30 in the morning temperature here this time of year, but without the humidity.

Ok, you have a point there. For a place without widespread air conditioning (wait what?) t hat is pretty hot.

It has only got to around 95 F (35 C) a few times this summer so we’ve been lucky. Humidity has been surprisingly mild too. Strange, since it has been pouring rain every other day helping cool everything down.

Good work on the Fusion. Seems kind of strange seeing a manual in that center console when that wasn't an option here. Were you paid to do this or just have an Uber driving friend?

It’s also a liftback and not a saloon. The Fusion/Mondeo is saloon only in the U.S. but here we get it in saloon, liftback and estate form.

Not paid, I don’t charge or do it for money.

Just a taxi driver I’ve spoken to a few times, not a mate or anything.

My only condition for me to do it is the owner of the car must like and appreciate their car (treat it as a tool and don’t care about it, well nor will I), oh and no arguing about not taking money.

I’ve a Porsche in a couple of weeks to do and him and his mate are insisting I take some money for it. I told them I won’t take money.

In new buildings one would hope that the insulation is of such a quality that heating (and cooling) does not need much power. Under floor heating should be sufficient. With good insulation and a temperate climate an AC is kind of superfluous. For example, in my native the Netherlands the number of days where it is over 30 degrees (86F) is very low. Like 2 to 5 days a year, on average. With good insulation and proper window discipline on hot days (open late at night and in the early morning , closed during the warmest parts of the day) you can keep the temperature inside comfortable during the whole year, without AC.

I have seen people (on this side of the pond) retrofitting a heat pump as a main form of heating in an older house, with a gas fired boiler as a backup when the heat pump cannot cope on the coldest days.

You truly have a passion for detailing cars. Like an obsession.

Do people ever get offended that you won t take their money? I couldn’ t poss ibly even let a good friend do this much hard work for me, and not at least buy them a meal or a gift card for some detailing supplies. You’re awesome Svend!

Some have been offended and I dare say a couple still are but to me it’s therapy and a hobby and hobbies cost money (just this moment spent another £170 on car products).

It’s the price of my sanity, lol.

Not awesome mate by any means. It’s something I love doing. I did it as a job when I first left school. Will never do it as a job again. I’ve been offered several jobs, jobs where I can set my hours and jobs (but I know within a couple of months it’ll be, ‘can you squeeze this one in’ or ‘can you hurry with that, this one needs doing’) and an offer to set up a business, I clean, they do the paperwork. But it’s not for me.

I just need a lottery win to buy a large garage to tailor to me and enjoy.

If it caters to your sanity, and the world gets cleaner cars because of it, then all the power to ya.

I love detailing my cars, my families cars, and my friends cars. But seeing the messes people will leave in their car, I could never do it large scale. And detailing businesses don’t have anywh ere near the attention to detail and results that I would be happy with. Like you, I enjoy it as a hobby, and if it ever became work I’d never want to do it again.

Also I will forever refer to a detailed car as “Svended” because of you hahaha

Lol. Thanks mate.

Well done lad, keep doing it while you enjoy it, from time to time it can drain you, don’t fight it or you’ll resent it, just take a brake and it’ll come back. Over the last 15+ years it’s happened a few times, but it comes back all the more enjoyable.

Businesses just sap life out of things.

Lol. Don’t be daft. Own your name.
